ESR methods. The bias between TEST-1 and the manual Westergren method was 22.7 mm/h (agreement limits, 233 to 8 mm/h). Concerning reproducibility, the mean interassay CV was 7.9%. The ESR values for samples stored for up to 24 h were, on average, 4% lower than the initial values. However, after storage for 48 h, ESR values were, on average, 24% lower than the initial values. Therefore, we consider the maximum permissible storage time to be 24 h. In conclusion, the Test-1 offers a fast determination of the ESR with acceptable intraassay variability and good correlation with traditional Westergren methods. The bias and agreement limits are comparable to those found by others (6, 7). The use of samples with EDTA as anticoagulant instead of sodium citrate has two possible advantages: the avoidance of a dilution step and consequent analytical errors, and the use of one sample for multiple hematologic analyses (e.g., ESR and complete blood count) (2 ).

Detection of hereditary bisalbuminemia in bottlenose dolphins (Tursiops truncatus, Montagu 1821): comparison between capillary zone and agarose gel electrophoresis
BACKGROUND Hereditary bisalbuminemia is a relatively rare anomaly characterized by the occurrence of two albumin fractions on serum protein separation by electrophoresis. In human medicine, it is usually revealed by chance, is not been clearly associated with a specific disease and the causative genetic alteration is a point mutation of human serum albumin gene inherited in an autosomal codomin...
متن کاملEffect of Capillary Rinsing Protocol on the Reproducibility of Separation in Capillary Electrophoresis with Indirect UV Detection
Capillary electrophoresis (CE) with indirect UV detection is an interesting analytical method for the analysis of drugs and pharmaceuticals. Good and reproducible capillary quality is needed to develop robust methods and to facilitate method transfer in CE. It is widely accepted that preconditioning procedures are indispensable in capillary electrophoresis in order to achieve reproducibility of...

متن کاملUse of Capillary Electrophoresis for Detection of Hemoglobinopathies in Individuals Referred to Health Centers in Masjed-Soleiman
Background: Hemoglobinopathies are the commonest single gene disorder in human that affect hemoglobin production and function that occur when mutations alter the amino acid sequence of globin chains. The purpose of the present study was to evaluate the prevalence of hemoglobninopathies detected by capillary electrophoresis method in individuals referred to Masjed-Soleiman health centers by capi...
